International Women’s Day 2026 | Mandi Theater
In celebration of International Women’s Day 2026, Mandi Theater presents two thought-provoking plays that amplify women’s voices, choices, and inner conflicts—across generations and realities.
Mard Aur Aurat by Dr. Rasheed Jahan
A landmark feminist dialogue by one of India’s earliest progressive writers, Mard Aur Aurat examines gender inequality, women’s economic independence, and shared responsibility in marriage and parenting. Written at a time when women were expected to remain silent, the play remains a bold and universal assertion of equality, dignity, and empowerment.
Bikhre Bimb by Girish Karnad
A gripping psychological drama, Bikhre Bimb explores the fractured identity of a woman writer who gains sudden global fame—only to confront betrayal, artistic truth, and the cost of success. Through themes of language, authorship, and visibility, the play questions whose voices are celebrated and whose remain unseen.
Why IWD 2026 Matters
As the world continues to navigate gender equity, creative freedom, and representation, these plays remind us that women’s struggles—personal, social, and artistic—are still deeply relevant. Together, they invite reflection, dialogue, and collective responsibility toward a more just and inclusive future.
WINGS, an acronym for Women Inspire, Nurture, Give and Support, to invite women to bring their stories of struggle, oppression as well as success in the form of monologues or skits. Initiated in March 2017. This event is to discuss universal issues that affect women and to create a platform where women are invited to present societal concerns & issues via stories and mono-acts.
